Welcome to the forum. I have used 75.0 gr RL 22 with a 180 gr bullet in the 300 Win Mag with excellent results. Well under MOA accuracy and 3000 fps in 3 different rifles. I am currently shooting a Nosler 150 grain ballistic tip. The bullet is very accurate but at close range it does massive damage to the meat of the deer. I am wondering if i load a 180 grain bullet, maybe a solid bullet if it would be a better choice for me to use. I have a Rem 700 chambered in 300 Win Mag that has a long throated 26 inch Douglas barrel. With the 180 grain Partition the OAL is 3.6 inches. With IMR 7828 that rifle 3150 FPS and good accuracy. I also have a tang safety Ruger chambered in 280 Remington. IMR 7828 powder and 160 grain Partitions work very good in that rifle. I just …Being a bit long, the bullets will need to be set deeper into the case than the Nosler bullets I typically use in order to meet the OAL length. I normally use 71 gr of IMR 4350 but that mix fills the 300 Win mag case up to the neck. There would be too much compresion if I push the Barnes bullet deep into the case/powder.When I bought my 300 it came with a crappy scope. I sighted it in and two days later I decided to use that scope for a baseball bat and buy a new one. After sighting in again my shoulder got a little sore and I started to flinch. I loaded some of those 110 gr loads down to around 3100 fps and did a "rough sight in".
