It all began when they were looking for a Funk Conversion (no relation to me) that replaces the 4 cylinder flathead for an 8N Ford with a V8. Since those conversions are rare, they eventually decided to manufacture and sell their own version.Funk built a series of conversion kits for the 8N that exchanged the stock inline-four for a flathead inline-six, a flathead V-8, or a Ford industrial overhead-valve 215-cubic-inch inline-six. I suppose with more work the big 337 could be used, but the bolt pattern would be different than the 239. With enough time and work any motor could be bolted up. I have even seen an 8N with a Lincoln V12 bolted in.
