This is his question: "I replaced the load control shaft and seals at the bottom of the transmission. I put the load control level in "D" before this. I also put new oil in it. Now the three point hitch won't raise."

I have an early 4020 and I just put an overhaul kit in the brake valve. I put everything back together following my JD service manual. Then I bleed the brakes. Now the brakes are totally locked up. Being exposed to the fuel, heat and. time it becomes hard and starts breaking to pieces. The pieces float around in the pump and get lodged in. to the wrong places and cause this kind of symptom. Good morning, Our '72 4020 leaks significantly from the steering motor pinion seal during cold weather operation. The colder the weather, the worse the leak. For reference, last week when operating at - 20 F, the leak was a steady stream. Once the tractor and/or ambient temp. warms up the leak stops or slows to an imperceptible amount.Tractor. 4020 John Deere. I have a 4020 that ran really well up until November. It starts good , but idles rough and when you put it under load it stalls. If you pull the choke out it will come back to life and run OK. if you feather the choke back in, it will drive around OK in lower gear.
