rt66john Discussion starter. 6 posts · Joined 2019. #1 · Apr 24, 2023 (Edited) Hello Everyone, I have a no-start issue with my 2004 Nomad 1500 FI. Last November, the bike wouldn’t start. A friend (Mercedes tech) and I diagnosed coils as the issue, no voltage at plug wires. I let it sit over the winter as Chicago winters can get darn cold.To verify: 1. Turn on key, running lights should come on. If yes, then. 2. Turn off key, remove right side cover and locate DFI relay. It is the round one in the group of three. 3. Turn on key, check for 12v on the Brown/red.Starting Problem. My Kawasaki 900 Vulcan won't start. The battery is only 1 year old and gives a reading of 12.89 volts across the terminals. I have charged it repeatedly. With the switch off, there is only 0.02 mA current across the terminals which I assume is due to the running of the clock and other internal electrical settings.

Got the new switch on and still not starting. Turn the key on and both oil and fi lights are solid red. Try to start it and it when it turns over the oil light goes off and the fi light stays solid. Frank, I think what you are experiencing is "normal". My 1500 did it for years. I got 55,000 miles out of the first set of clutch plates. When I replaced mine, I only did the clutch friction pads and not the metal plates. They still measured within specs.The guy who serviced it recommended turning the throttle twice to activate the pumper jet. Then press start and twist the throttle. The bike will ignite, and it's really loud, but it dies after a few seconds. I have tried pulling the clutch in, and pulling the choke out. Neither of those will get it to turn over.
